Piotr Zalewa NOD (Kamykowa 6, 87-134 Rozgarty, Poland; NIP 8791049974) runs Vernie and decides what happens to the data described here. Write to contact@nod.consulting about anything on this page, to see what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted.
Your account
When you sign in we keep your e-mail address, your name, your handle, your photo if you add one, your time zone, your colour mode, and the date you agreed to hear from Vernie if you did. With Google or Apple we receive the address and name they share with us.
We keep the openings you say you are going to, and whether that is public or hidden, the galleries and people you follow, the devices you turned notifications on for, and events you submit. Deleting your account in Settings removes all of it.
If you ask to manage a gallery's page, with or without an account, we keep the name and e-mail address you give, what you wrote about your tie to the gallery, the date you agreed to hear from Vernie if you did, and our decision. These stay when you delete an account, and a rejected request keeps the address so we can answer it. Write to contact@nod.consulting to have them removed.
A gallery's licence
When a gallery's owner lets Vernie show the images and texts from the gallery's website, we keep what the licence covers, the credit line, the name signed, the accounts that signed and ended it, when it was granted and when it ended, and which version of the licence was accepted. When you delete an account we remove the link to it and keep the rest, with the name signed, because it shows what the gallery agreed to.
Cookies Vernie needs
A session cookie keeps you signed in. Small cookies remember the last city you opened, your time zone while you sign in, a follow you pressed before signing in, and your answers about analytics and gallery photos. They do not track you and need no consent.
Vercel Web Analytics
Vercel counts page views without cookies. It sees the address of the page and your browser and country, and does not keep anything that identifies you from one day to the next. It runs for everyone.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics runs only if you accept. It sets the _ga cookies and records the pages you open and a few actions: going to an opening, following, submitting an event, installing the app, turning on notifications, and asking to manage a gallery's page, each with the city and the opening or gallery where it applies. It never receives your name, handle, e-mail address, or account. Vernie shortens addresses that would name you, such as profile pages and invitation links, before sending them. Google may process the data outside the EU.
Photos from galleries' websites
Some exhibition and gallery photos on Vernie are not copies. If you allow photos from galleries' websites, your browser loads each one straight from the gallery's own server, which sees your IP address, your browser, and that the page you were on is Vernie, as it would if you opened the gallery's site. Vernie keeps no copy of these photos and sends the gallery nothing else.
We ask first, because your address reaches the gallery only with your consent. Without it, these pages show no such photos and your browser contacts no gallery. You can change your answer above at any time. A gallery can turn its photos off on Vernie, and we remove a single photo when its rights holder asks.
The map
We load the map on the map page from OpenFreeMap. It sees your IP address and the part of the city on your screen, and sets no cookies. If you ask the map to show where you are, your position stays in your browser.
The forms for adding or editing a gallery show the same map. To place the pin, your browser may send the gallery's name or address as you typed it, with the city and country, to Nominatim, the OpenStreetMap Foundation's search, which sees them and your IP address. That happens when you press Find on the map, or when you leave the name field (and then the address field, if the name found nothing) while no pin has been placed by hand. If you press I'm here, your position stays in your browser unless you save the pin it places, which then becomes the gallery's location on Vernie.
Where the data lives
Vercel hosts the site in Frankfurt, Neon holds the database, Cloudflare stores photos, and Resend delivers sign-in and invitation mail.
